Meet the team - Youth
Youth Leader - Sarah Bennett
Sarah’s role is to head-up the work GVC does with 11-18 year olds, co-ordinating a wonderful team of volunteers. Sarah is passionate about seeing young people flourish & grow into the people God created them to be. She has a heart for Portishead and enabling young people to become actively engaged in our community, bringing transformation, love & hope. She regularly goes into Gordano School, and has close links with Portishead Youth Centre, Portishead council youth forum and other churches in the town. She also works in schools across Bristol & North Somerset to train young people about Healthy Living.
Sarah is married to Dav Bennett, who cooks a mean curry! In her spare time she likes to indulge in cloud-spotting and baking cupcakes.
SWYM Worker - Sam Clarke
Sam Clarke, also known as Clarkee by his friends, is a 20 year old from deepest, darkest North Devon. Born and raised in Barnstaple where he lived with his mum, dad, younger brother and two younger sisters before moving to Bristol in September 2014. He is working at GVC as part of SWYM (South West Youth Ministries) and his role is trainee youth worker. Before coming to GVC, he studied biology, physics, maths, graphics and ICT at college and then moved to Bristol to do a Youth Work Internship with a church in North Bristol.
Sam loves music, playing football, ultimate frisbee and eating food! He is passionate about seeing young people grow, develop and wrestle in their faith. Sam loves the Lord and wants to honour and submit to him in all his ways. Sam loves nothing more than sitting with a hot chocolate and a film to relax in the evening.
