Pentecost Prayer

We're really pleased to join with Portishead Churches Together to pray for our community, nation and world this Pentecost, and we'd love you to join us.  Each day we will have a different prayer theme, including schools, National & Local government, the police, people in need, local businesses, care homes, the NHS, those facing job loss and the personal impact of Covid.

Join us on Zoom at Midday for a half hour prayer meeting, hosted by different church leaders from the town.

Easter Drive-In 2021

We were delighted as Portishead Churches Together to bring you another Drive-In Service on Easter Day.  Lots of people came and joined us as we celerated Jesus birth, death and resurrection.  He is risen!  The Easter Car-Bonnet competition was a great success too, with some very creative entries!  Here are some pictures of the event.

Easter video series

We love Easter!  Perhaps even more than Christmas, because we get to celebrate Jesus' life, death and resurrection.... He is Risen!  He is Risen indeed!
To celebrate this year, we have created a series of 8 mini-films, designed to be watched every day from Palm Sunday to Easter Day (but we know some people love to binge watch, so they're all available now if you prefer!).

Restored Lives course 2021

Carol and the Restored Lives team are excited to be running their second online Restored Lives course this April, following the success of our Autumn course.  
This course is for people who are separated, are thinking about divorce, or have been divorced for many years. It is a place to find practical support and advice, as well as emotional wellbeing, during this difficult time.

Drive in Carol Service
Sunday 13th December

We were absolutely delighted to be part
of the very first Drive-In Carol service in Portishead, which featured a live band and choir.  This was organised by Churches Together and was such a great festive event! 
​The service raised an amazing £1256, divided equally between Portishead Lights and the Samaritans (local branch).

Follow the Star Treasure Hunt

We are really excited to announce a special Christmas trail, in association with Portishead Churches Together.  Ali, Liz, Sue, Sarah & Remie have been busy painting rocks, as have busy bees from Portishead Parish church, which will be hiding around the town from 18th - 28th Dec.

Cludo Club 2020

We are excited to announce that Cludo Club is GOING ONLINE for a very special 2020 Lockdown year!

Everyone will be welcome to join us...
Monday 20th - Friday 24th July @ 10am each day 
This is the first year in over 30 years that we're unable to welcome you to Cludo Club in person, and we're gutted, but we can't wait to see you virtually!

Online Alpha

We have successfully run our first ONLINE Alpha course! 
Alpha is designed for those who are interested in finding out more about the Christian faith, are curious about church, have questions about life.

Pentecost 2020 in Portishead

It was wonderful to join together with churches all across the town in the run up to Pentecost, with Daily Zoom prayers at noon led by different churches with a different focus each day.  We were also encouraged to prayerfully think about 5 people to pray for during this time.
The highlight of the time was coming together for a joint celebration service, hosted by Enjoy Church - if you missed it, do check out the service here.

On going Notices

Due to the current situation in the UK with Covid-19, and to keep everyone safe, all physical groups that GVC run are cancelled for the foreseeable future.  This includes our Sunday celebrations, all children and youth groups, adult groups, house groups.  Many groups are going online however!  Please speak to Sarah for youth events, or speak to individual group leaders to find out the technical bits. Foodbank will still run from No4 on Fridays, and donations can be left during the week in the porch.

Where possible, the GVC office at No.4 will remain open during usual office hours.  Do feel free to phone us if you need help (01275 847032).
