About Us
Who we are and what we are about.
Gordano Valley Church (GVC) began in September 1990 and is a church without links to any particular denomination. The initial congregation comprised people from all sorts of Christian backgrounds and many with no particular church affiliation.
In 1994, the church joined with another similar congregation in town called Highdown Church. GVC is an evangelical and charismatic church and we do place a high value on unity and co-operation with other churches in Portishead. We take the Bible as our authority for what we believe, how we live and how we should celebrate as church. |
Commitment |
Service |
To help unchurched people become committed Christians and part of the life and worship of the church.
DiscipleshipTo disciple every member, in an atmosphere of love, prayer and Bible teaching, to become more like Jesus.
|
To release every member in ministry and mission, in the power of the Spirit, with opportunities to discover and to fruitfully use our gifts.
UnityTo build together in unity with other churches, to be salt and light in Portishead, and to bless the nations, especially the poorest.

Individual Values |
Family Values |
Devotion to Jesus
Individually developing our relationship with God following Jesus in the power of the Spirit. |
Commitment to one another
Valuing and serving one another as we enjoy being the family God. |
Dedication to making Jesus known
Announcing and demonstrating the Kingdom of God in every area of our lives, individually and together, locally, nationally and around the world. |
Our Views on Baptism...As a church we hold to a baptism of believers by full immersion. We firmly believe that anyone who professes a faith can be baptised and for us it's another way of welcoming you into our family. If you want any more information please read the leaflet below or contact Dave ([email protected]).
|
Our Views on Communion...We take communion together as a church within the service roughly twice a month as well as in a housegroup setting midweek. Anyone who believes Jesus is Lord is welcome to take the bread and wine. During our sunday services we use non-alcoholic grape juice and have gluten free bread so that everyone is able to take part.
