What Sundays are like for us...

We gather together Sundays mornings at 10:30-11:45 in the Main Hall at Gordano School, Portishead.  

Our Sundays include worship songs, a Bible-based talk, prayer.  Kids and young people go to their groups around 11.  We enjoy hot drinks and a catch up with friends after the service.  Meeting together is an important part of living as a Christian; encouraging each other, worshiping God together and getting equipped to go out and serve in our jobs, families, schools.  We regularly take communion together.

Location and parking

Find us in the Main Hall at Gordano School, St Mary's Road, Portishead, BS20 7HA.  There is plenty of parking around the school site, we also open up an overflow carpark, which is by the astropitch.  Follow signs for 'Reception' and one of our welcome team will greet you.

Second Sundays

Our Second Sunday services are for everyone, whether you are 2 months or 100 years, there is a place for you to meet with God and share with others, in our wonderful, messy, family of God.
10:30-11am - Cafe-style Breakfast
We have pastries, fruit, coffee & more, as well as gluten free options too.
11am-11:30am - Worship for everyone
Music, prayers, bible stories, sometimes puppets and drama.
11:30-12pm - Activity Zones
Exploring the theme in different ways: from acoustic worship, crafts, talks, quiet zone, sports to social action and litter picking around the school site.

For children and young people...

We love children and young people at GVC and enjoy having them as part of our family.  We know that everyone learns differently, so we have different groups during the main services where they can learn through games, discussion, fun and with snacks!  We want everyone to be fully engaged in church, so we are delighted for young people to join our worship, sound, refreshments and welcoming teams.

Lighthouse

For pre-school and primary aged children up to Year 5.

During the morning we have story time where we learn about God through a Bible story or video, a prayer and craft activity. There is also sensory play, games, puzzles and snack time.

FROG

For young people in Year 6-11.

We explore the bible together through discussion in small groups, video and creative media.  We know how important it is to build church friendships, so each term we have a FROG social - the ever-popular FROG breakfast, frisbee golf, treasure hunt, plus join in with social action projects, like The Noise.

Churches Together Sundays

Gordano Valley Church is a key partner of Portishead Churches together.  Once a year we are part of running a unity service, where all of the churches in Portishead come together for church on a Sunday morning.
